Tropical Trekkers

Seabranch Preserve State Park

The Tropical Trekkers are the local chapter of the Florida Trail Association and are the stewards of the hiking trails at Seabranch Preserve State Park. With over 6 miles of trails to maintain, the Trekkers stay busy trimming the trail, keeping it clear of fallen trees, and making sure trail blazes are marked.

Once a month Tropical Trekkers leaders Richard Knapp and Fran Connolly organize trail workdays. Joined by park staff and park AmeriCorps members, these workdays are vital to keeping the trails in the best possible condition for park visitors.

In addition to the monthly trail workdays, the Tropical Trekkers participate in the park’s annual National Public Lands Day event and organize special moonlight group hikes. The dedication and passion that the Tropical Trekkers put into their work at Seabranch Preserve State Park allow for all visitors to get out in the park and experience ...the Real Florida.
