Volunteer Spotlight, Ron McCraine

A cut above the rest.

Ron McCraine

Lake Jackson Mounds Archaeological State Park

Ron always loved being outside, maybe a little too much as a child who fished and rode his bike every chance he could. One day Ron rode bike down the Tallahassee - St. Marks State Trail to San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park.  While there he went in and asked if there were any volunteer opportunities. The ranger told him Lake Jackson could use someone to take over mowing and that sounded good to Ron so he signed up.

He now has over 696 volunteer hours under his belt.

Since 2016, Ron primarily mows for the gratification of seeing the results of his efforts immediately and says “The zero turn Gravely is just fun.”
