Peggy Thibodeaux

Hontoon Island State Park

Peggy was born in Virginia and has also lived in Pennsylvania and Louisiana. She and her husband stumbled into Hontoon Island State Park after moving to the area in 2015 and were immediately hooked. Peggy has been a valued member of our volunteer force ever since.

As the treasurer of our citizen support organization (CSO), Peggy can typically be found in our CSO building balancing the books and paying bills when she is on the island, but she is also an excellent interpreter, having presented several children’s programs on the island.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, gardening, decorating, and working with animals. She also spends some of her time volunteering with elementary school students.

Peggy’s favorite part about volunteering at Hontoon Island is that there’s always something new to see whether it’s park projects, new educational displays, or a recently discovered nest!

We are so happy Peggy is part of our family. If you happen to see her when you’re on the island stop and say hello! You are sure to walk away with a smile and a desire to return soon.
