Don Burnett

Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park

Meet Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park’s volunteer swiss army knife: Don Burnett. A New Yorker by birth, Don has always liked coming down to Florida during the colder months, and really fits in on any project he is working on.

Don has an extensive background in carpentry, plumbing and just about any other thing you can think of. If a project needs doing in Gold Head he is there to work, and probably knows more about it than anyone else. Don is always ready to help, and is always happy to teach others what he knows.

Don enjoys coming to Gold Head because of the friendly staff, getting to meet other volunteers and participating at the park’s volunteer potlucks. Don particularly enjoys coming down during autumn, or what he calls “Florida autumn,” when it is cold in every other state, but the weather here is just right. Fall is an especially nice time in Gold Head, when a crisp and refreshing breeze is present in the park and bright sunlight highlights the golden sandhill habitat.

Don hopes to keep coming back to Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park, where he will keep working on whatever needs to get done.
