Assistant Park Manager, Tom Watson

Egmont Key State Park

Tom Watson grew up in Manhasset, Long Island. After many years enduring the cold and snowy weather, Tom though that it would be a good idea to move someplace warmer, eventually choosing Florida as his new home. Tom has always had a love for the outdoors and loves everything about simply being outside in nature. One of the things he likes best about living in Florida is the fact that he can enjoy outdoor and water recreation year-round.

Tom’s role at Egmont Key is as the assistant park manager. Because it is a secluded island only accessibly by boat, Tom often gets to enjoy the peace and solitude of nature. Though the island is small, it is home to a multitude of cultural and natural resources. On any given day, you can find Tom out and about in the park doing his part to protect and preserve the wildlife and plants of the island.

Tom’s favorite part of his position is sharing his passion for the environment with others. He takes every opportunity to interact with a visitor as a chance to teach them about the environment and what they can do to help protect it. He knows that even those little interactions make a big difference.

Tom hopes to continue to work at the park for as long as possible, making sure that it is preserved for many generations.
