Staff Spotlight, Pam Hiler
Park Services Specialist, Pam Hiler
St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park
Visit the St. Sebastian River administrative building and you will be happily greeted by Pam. Originally from New York, Pam relocated to Florida to be closer to the sun and surf and to care for her husband, son and aging parents. Pam volunteers her free time with Cub Scout Pack 589 and Boy Scout Troop 505. Very often, you can catch her hiking on the trails with a group of Scouts sharing the beauty, history and knowledge of the park.
Working for the Florida Park Service for the past seven years, she loves the fact that every day is different. Pam serves as an administrative assistant for St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park. Although she is most comfortable in the office near her desk and computer, she always comes out into the field for team project workdays and exotic removal team days.
One of her most recent accomplishments was passing the pack test to be able to learn and participate in DEP's prescribed fire program. Making camping reservations, meeting visitors and working directly with local Scout groups are just a few of her favorite activities at the park.
Pam was awarded the District Public Service Award in Tampa in 2019. Pam is an integral part of the team at St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park and we are happy to work with her.
