Toll Collector, Nancy Pendino

Oleta River State Park

Nancy Pendino is a toll collector at Oleta River State Park. After the unfortunate passing of her husband, Nancy decided that she wanted to go back to work, and what better place than a Florida State Park. A former employee of the state of Florida, Nancy felt it would only be right that she went back to the state, assisting in a new and exciting way. Nancy thought that working at a state park would be best because she has a love for the outdoors. Becoming a toll collector was perfect for Nancy as she liked the feeling of being outside and inside an office and meeting new people every day.

Nancy’s favorite part of her position is greeting visitors as they enter the park. She loves seeing the excitement on their faces and gets excited knowing that once they get in the park, the beauty of the area will far pass their expectations. Being an animal lover as well, she also enjoys meeting the visitor’s pets! Although her interactions with visitors may be short, Nancy’s smile and warm attitude makes visitors feel welcome and ensures that they have a great start to their visit.

Oleta River State Park is special to Nancy because it offers so much to do in a place you wouldn’t expect. She already has a love for the outdoors, however working at the park has made Nancy love it even more. Being in the park has not only let her see the beauty of nature daily, but has also allowed her to learn so much about the various ecosystems and resources that are a part of Oleta River State Park. Her favorite activities are hiking and kayaking and just generally taking in the gorgeous landscape at the park.
