Park Ranger Kristin Wood

Dade Battlefield Historic State Park

Kristin came to Dade Battlefield in 2011 after several years with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.  “A job came open near where I was living, and I felt the Florida Park Service system was an outdoor profession with a close match to my goals.”

You can often find her leading a walk, hosting a program or planning for the next event in the office.

In addition to serving as the pied piper for our many devoted park volunteers, Kristin oversees many of the park’s programs including Christmas on the Florida Frontier, Pioneer Day Camp, Nature Day Camp and much more.  She is constantly adding new interpretive programs and hands-on craft classes to our schedule.

Kristin has been recognized repeatedly for going above and beyond the call of duty. Kristin has been District 4 Employee of the Month repeatedly, was named District 4 Interpreter of the year, and has received high-level statewide accolades including the Public Service Award and DEP Stars Award.

But she says it is the “response and encouragement of the public, staff and volunteers to the programs and events” that really inspire her to keep going.
