Park Services Specialist, JoAnna Lemmon

Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park

JoAnna Lemmon is the Park Services Specialist (PSS), for Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park. With the help of part-time caretaker Eugene Allen and an array of volunteers who reside part-time within the park, she maintains and runs Peacock Springs.

Filling the role as PSS here is a dream come true for JoAnna. She grew up close by to the park she currently works in, just across the Suwannee River. Her uncle has been a hay farmer in O’Brien, Florida, just down the road for as long as she can remember.

When she was eight years old she remembers riding in her Granny’s Buick, sitting passenger on top of a crock pot to see. They would drive the winding roads past Peacock Springs during that special time of year when the maple trees were blooming. When they would stop for a visit, it seemed as if the whole park belonged to them.

As a resident caretaker and many other roles she has been able to experience as a Florida Park Service ranger, JoAnna is more than proud to manage the resources her park encompasses. She certainly can’t thank the help from her staff and the volunteers enough, saying that this park would not be what it is today without the hard work, determination and skills shared through their team effort.

JoAnna is thrilled to be in the place she was always meant to be, and hopes you will also find that place at Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park.
