Staff Spotlight, Greg Milton

Gamble Rogers volunteer Greg Milton

Park Ranger, Greg Milton

North Peninsula State Park

Greg Milton has been working for the Florida Park Service for about six years, and he has loved every minute of it! Greg is the resident ranger at Gamble Rogers, located on a barrier island, and he has the envious opportunity to live on the island too. Working outside is something that he has always preferred, and his position fits him perfectly.

Greg enjoys being out in nature with the flora and fauna all day, as well as interacting with the campers on any of the 68 campsites or anywhere else throughout the park.

There are so many aspects of being a park ranger that he thoroughly enjoys, but if he had to pick his favorite thing, it would be Turtle Patrol. Six months out of the year, from May through October, the members of turtle patrol take turns riding the beach at sunrise and look for new nests. Greg regularly encounters hatchlings while doing nest inventories, and he gets to watch them hurry off to the ocean to start their lives! The old saying is true, "Love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life." Greg plans to keep doing this for many years to come.
