Park Ranger, Ginger Bevirt

Crystal River Archaeological State Park

Ginger Bevirt grew up in Central Florida before moving to the west coast in 2017. When her husband started working at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, Ginger decided to volunteer there, working with the garden club. Her volunteer service led to a part-time museum guide position with the Crystal River Archaeological State Park, and shortly after she joined the staff as a full-time park ranger.

Ginger usually can be found on a mower, keeping the grounds maintained while greeting and interacting with park visitors. Locals recognize her for her love of the park’s four-legged, furry visitors. Ginger has a personal love of orchids and all things wild. Her love of plants keeps her constantly on watch for what’s in bloom and sharing that excitement with our visitors.

Ginger’s deep appreciation and respect for the land shines through in everything she does, even in simple visitor interactions. She takes great pride in her work and in the archaeological site. According to Ginger, every day brings something new to the job, which keeps it interesting and challenging and brings her back for more!

When asked about her favorite part of the job, Ginger said, “My work family. It truly is a family atmosphere within the Florida Park Service, and I cannot wait to continue my lifelong career with the park service. This truly is a dream job.”
