Park Ranger Curt Moore

Eden Gardens State Park

As someone who loves to share information about Eden Gardens and its rich history, Park Ranger Curt Moore takes pride in working at one of the most beautiful garden parks in the Florida Panhandle.

Born in California and raised in Enterprise, Alabama, Allen “Curt” Moore is no stranger to the Santa Rosa Beach area. In the late 1990s, Curt and his wife, Joann, made a living selling and delivering flowers in the Santa Rosa Beach area. While doing so Curt met a man that worked at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. This profession piqued Curt's interest and from that point forward he set his sights on becoming a park ranger for the Florida Park Service.

After obtaining a position at Topsail and working there for seven years, Curt accepted the resident park ranger position at Eden Gardens State Park. As the only full-time park ranger in the field, Curt is relied upon very heavily. He is involved in every aspect of Eden Gardens, whether it’s maintaining facilities and equipment, filling in for Wesley House tours, or simply telling the story of Eden Gardens to its visitors.

Curt’s favorite area of the park is Tucker Bayou near where the Choctawhatchee River forms the bay. It’s not uncommon to see dolphins, birds and various types of wildlife off the tip of the dock. On a daily basis you will most likely find him out in the field working with volunteers, mowing the grounds or ensuring that visitor needs are met in full.

Curt is always willing to step up in more ways than one and he really appreciates the diversity of the job. Eden Gardens is extremely fortunate to have such a dedicated individual. When not working Curt enjoys camping in his travel trailer with his wife.
