Maintenance Mechanic, Bill Moore

Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park

Bill Moore works as a maintenance mechanic at Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park. He is a native Floridian, born and raised in Hialeah, Florida.  As a child, Bill was a stunt double for one of the child actors on the old television show, Flipper.  Any time the actor did not want to do a scene, Bill was there to complete the scene.

Bill is an avid boater, fisherman and scuba diver.  He has worked in many different jobs, including as a heavy crane operator, roofer, mechanic for the City of Hialeah and for a diesel company, to highlight a few.  His talents are many and they are highly valued.

Assistant Park Manager, Charles Zeletes writes, “The Florida Park Service and Mizell-Johnson State Park could only hope for a Maintenance Mechanic who is more qualified than Mr. Bill Moore. He has saved the state an immeasurable amount of money through his seemingly endless amount of knowledge in the areas of maintenance and repair. His knowledge and skills include, but are certainly not limited to: all facets of electrical concepts from low to high voltage systems, gas and electric motors (including all elements associated with them), heavy equipment operation and repair, lift station grinder pump installation and programming, HVAC system installation and repair, automotive repair, plumbing, carpentry, hydraulics, etc.

Mr. Moore's skill in the operation of heavy equipment has been instrumental in the park's exotic removal program. He has cleared large areas of exotic growth and has prepared areas for volunteers and staff to re-vegetate the park. His skills are integral to our goal of a satisfying experience for park visitors."
