Red drum, black drum, sheepshead, spotted seatrout and common snook can be caught from the park's fishing dock. Freshwater species such as large-mouth bass and bream can be caught closer to the creek headwaters. Size and bag limits are strictly enforced. All current regulations are available at the park.
- All fishing within the park must conform to regulations concerning size, number, method of capture and season.
- A fishing license may be required. More information is available at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website Fishing in Florida.
The park has four nature trails.
- The Picnic Area Nature Trail is accessible from the picnic area and is dominated by longleaf pines and turkey oak trees. It is a leisurely half-mile trail with views of the creek and salt marsh.
- The Campground Nature Trail is accessible by site #15 in the campground. It is a shady half-mile trail that winds through the hammock with a view of Pellicer Creek at the halfway point.
- The Pine Loop Trail is a triangle trail that connects to the longer Hiram Faver Trail. It has beautiful views of longleaf pines, saw palmettos, native shiny blueberries and many grasses/wildflowers. Regular prescribed burns are conducted in this area to maintain the natural plant community.
- The Hiram Faver Trail is a 2.6-mile trail that is mostly shaded with benches and ends at an overlook of the Pellicer Flats. Several miles of park boundary roads and backwoods roads are also available for hiking. Please make prior arrangements with park staff to hike the backwoods areas.
Faver-Dykes State Park provides picnic facilities located along beautiful Pellicer Creek. There are two covered pavilions along with other tables and grills located throughout the picnic area. The picnic area's close proximity to the creek affords a short walk to the fishing dock. The picnic area is located under a canopy of large old-growth longleaf pine trees, which create a soft ground cover of pine needles.
- One of the pavilions can be reserved by calling the park at 904-794-0997. Pavilions are first-come, first-served.
- Restroom facilities and a children's play area are also available in the picnic area.
- Consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited, except campers may consume alcoholic beverages within their campsites.
Pellicer Creek is a popular site for birding with more than 100 bird species seen during spring and fall migrations. Songbirds, including colorful wood warblers, along with eagles and falcons return to nest at the park each year. Wading birds such as egrets, wood storks, white ibis and herons feed in the tidal marshes and creeks.
This peaceful park is also home to deer, turkeys, hawks, bobcats and river otters.
