Park Alert, Ichetucknee Springs

Due to this December’s historic amount of rainfall the Ichetucknee River basin has remained flooded since mid-December. As park staff here at Ichetucknee Springs State Park continue to clear debris from the river and monitor the slowly receding river levels, some docks remain submerged and landings are flooded out.

The river crested on December 29, 2018 at an unprecedented 23.22 feet.  The river levels are now going down, and park rangers are hard at work cleaning the slowly emerging docks and inspecting them for structural damage.  We are constantly monitoring NOAA river gauges and checking river levels daily.

While the river is closed to tubing, canoeing and kayaking, the pristine headspring and Blue Hole remain open for snorkeling and swimming.  The south entrance of the park has picnic areas and pavilions that are open as well as our Education Center (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).  Our hiking trails remain open at the north entrance and they offer great opportunities for birding and nature viewing and provide an excellent place to enjoy the outdoors.

While we monitor the river we will be constantly updating the website, so please check back here for the most recent information.  We look forward to seeing you visit us soon.
