Stephen Downs
Stephen - who grew up in Reno, Nevada - moved to Florida for work and enjoys living here because of the wilderness and natural beauty. His family has always enjoyed the outdoors, and his love for nature flourished upon arriving in Florida. He enjoys the wide variety of plants, animals and natural communities that provide a varied experience with each adventure.
Volunteering has provided Stephen with the opportunity to support and experience Florida’s amazing natural communities. He enjoys working outdoors and making a difference in the parks.
When asked what he enjoys most about Hontoon Island, Stephen said he likes how calm and relaxing the park is, and he enjoys learning about the history of the park. He recommends walking the Hammock Hiking Trail as well as relaxing in the marina area.
Hontoon Island State Park is pleased to have a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer such as Stephen.
