Paddling on Chaires Creek

A side connects the parking area with kayak launch.

Nestled along the serene curves of Chaires Creek, paddlers will find a new floating accessible kayak launch.

It is beautifully designed and constructed to allow those with limited mobility an opportunity to enjoy a leisurely paddle on the water using the accessible launching rig.

View wildlife such as great blue herons, ospreys, manatees and even alligators.

Paddlers will enjoy kayaking on Chaires Creek with access to Ochlockonee Bay to the north and Tucker Lake to the south. The extensive tidal creek system provides opportunities to fish, see wildlife and enjoy nature. The brackish waters and overstory of pines create a serene atmosphere for exploration.

To access the new facilities, visitors can use the Chaires Creek entrance into Bald Point State Park at 258 Alligator Drive, then continue down Range Road approximately 1.5 miles, where the new use area can be found on the north side of the road before the bridge. There is ample parking and a loading area near the entrance to the kayak launch, and a concrete sidewalk leads to a ramp and floating dock.
