There’s nothing quite like a morning paddle at Waccasassa Bay Preserve State Park. When you’re paddling across the bay, ospreys soaring overhead as the clear water stretches out before you, it’s easy to see why this beautiful waterway has been preserved as a state park.

I love trying to spot all the rare plants and animals that call the preserve home as I paddle, such as manatees and black bears. Beyond wildlife viewing, fishing the salt marshes of the bay is always a good time, and since the park is accessible only by boat, you’re guaranteed to have plenty of open space to cast your line. If you’re looking for a quiet place to get on the water and get away from everything else, look no further than Waccasassa!

Waccasassa Bay Preserve State Park offers sweeping vistas of natural landscapes uninterrupted by buildings, power lines and bridges. The preserve is home to numerous rare, threatened or endangered plant and animal species and commercially important marine species.

Whether you enjoy a quiet early morning kayak paddle or bring your boat to fish the incoming or outgoing tides, late spring and early summer are wonderful times of the year at Waccasassa Bay Preserve State Park!
