Wes Williams

Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park

Wes Williams is the epitome of dedication. Wes has lead an interesting life, growing up in military bases overseas, passing through the many states in America, and generally living among many different cultures. One thing that didn't change was finding himself in Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park over the years time and time again. He has watched the park change as a whole, met many people in the park service and certainly made an impact on the area. He has always had a passion for the outdoors, taking time to hike to beautiful vistas and finding the "A-HA!" moments in nature. Since retiring from his career in the navy and Reserves, Wes gets a lot out of volunteering for the state parks. He has done extensive work on the parks American kestrel program, aided by the experience he has gained over the years and his passion to learn more. This has made him critical to not only the kestrels, but also to up-and-coming rangers who want to be involved in the program. The park's hidden gems and friendly working environment keep Wes coming back to Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park to continue fueling his passion for the natural world.
