Volunteer Spotlight: Stu Hall

Volunteer Spotlight Colt Creek State Park Stu H.

Stu Hall

Colt Creek State Park

Stu Hall is a retired master sergeant with the U.S. Army, with a career spanning 30 years and two tour duties in Vietnam. He began volunteering at Colt Creek State Park in 2016 and assists the park by operating the ranger station and pulling the tram for ranger-guided tours.

Stu's a regular face to visitors: He's here every week and on special occasions such as park events and interpretive programs. At the ranger station, he takes park calls and manages transactions, camper registration and more, in addition to his work towing participants through the mesic flatwood forest. He's generous with his time and his pizza, bringing a pizza each week for the staff to share during his volunteer shift. Additionally, Stu donates his time to other organizations and serves on the board of a local square dancing club. His wife, Natalie, also volunteers at our park, and it's always fun to visit them whenever they're staying at the Colt Creek State Park campground.

Stu's a fun, friendly and reliable friend of the park, and we're thankful for his service to our country, for his volunteer service at our park and for always being great company. Thank you, Stu. We appreciate you!
