Bill Lewis

Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway

Mr. Bill Lewis is one of the Cross Florida Greenway’s many valued volunteers. He started with the Greenway in 2015 as one of our volunteer hosts at Santos campground. Bill is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1966 and for the last 6 months of his service served in Vietnam, so he always has stories and interesting facts about his time in the military.

When you meet Bill, you will never forget him. He makes every experience an amazing and fun one. You could see him at any one of our many events, as he is always eager to help and is always full of life! Even at 7 a.m. on Saturday mornings, he is ready to get to work. When asked, Bill said his goal for volunteering is to hit the 10,000-hour mark! By accomplishing this he will receive a plaque with his name on it that will be hung in our park manager's office, and he is well on his way to accomplishing this goal!

Bill is a jack-of-all-trades and a master of almost all of them! He helps keep our campground clean and free of any issues. He’s a genius with all the machines, especially the larger ones. He mows, trims trees and blows off all of the trails as often as he can and, as needed! If you ever visit the campground, stop by and say hello to Bill! He is a wealth of knowledge and one of the great personalities we have working at Santos!
