Assistant Park Manager Nick Brown

Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park

Nicholas Brown is a native Floridian who grew up in Florida State Parks. Nick spent many of his birthdays discovering our beautiful state parks with his family, who instilled in him the importance of sharing experiences in these natural settings. Having lived in  Gainesville until he was 18, Nick began volunteering at Dudley Farm Historic State Park when he turned 16, where he learned about the inner workings of the Florida Park Service. After high school, he went straight to work as a park ranger at Curry Hammock State Park in the Florida Keys, where he would stay for four-and-a-half years, before moving to Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park

Nick's favorite outdoors activity is enjoying rivers and waterways, which fueled his passion to protect the natural resources in Florida State Parks. You often can find him working to improve the park, talking to visitors to make sure they have had a great experience, and checking in with his staff. As the assistant park manager, he is happiest when his staff is successful and when his co-workers grow as a team.

Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park is one of Nick’s most cherished places, because of its familiarity and because of the historic structures created by the Civilian Conservation Corps. He feels a great sense of satisfaction working in the setting that he calls home.
