Park Ranger, Guy DiGiovanni

Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park

Guy DiGiovanni is a Tennessee native who moved to Florida as a child. Although he had to leave behind his home state, he took with him his love of Mother Nature. He has fond memories of playing in the woods and discovering Florida’s wildlife, finding the creatures here to be fascinating and unique.

Guy’s love of the outdoors followed him into adulthood, ultimately fueling his decision to become a park ranger at Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park. His role is vitally important, being the only park ranger at Fakahatchee. That may seem like a lot of pressure, but guy does a great job of handling all the responsibilities. You can most often find him removing exotic plants or working on interpretation projects. His favorite part of his position is simple having the ability to be out in the field, instead of behind a desk all day. Of his favorite programs at the park, he particularly enjoys the prescribed burning program and the wildlife programs.

The beauty of Fakahatchee is what keeps Guy coming back every day. The abundance of wildlife at the park is amazing to him. Springtime is his favorite time of the year because the plants and animals are renewed, and the weather is absolutely amazing.  In the future, Guy sees himself becoming certified to participate in prescribed burns and helping that program grow. His contributions are an integral part of what makes Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park an outstanding place to visit.
