Nature Trails of MacArthur Beach

Travel back in time to the Real Florida and experience the peace and beauty of Southeast Florida’s subtropical flora. The park has two self-guiding nature trails, allowing visitors a chance to walk among stately trees, flowering shrubs and thick beds of ferns. All trails are open for exploration during regular park hours.

At the foot of the boardwalk, the Dune Trail winds south through a forest of gumbo limbo, mastic, cabbage palm, strangler fig, and other tropical and subtropical trees.

Before you head out to the beach, a quick stroll down the Satinleaf Trail will get you oriented to the tropical habitats that are protected in the park on Singer Island. The Satinleaf Trail winds through a mixed maritime hammock comprised of 60% to 70% tropical plant species. Hammocks are forested areas that are slightly higher than the surrounding land. As you walk the trail, be sure to notice the subtle elevation changes and the corresponding changes in plant life that accompany them. This easy trail is located at the north end of the park near the playground and the north pavilion. Be certain to pick up a self-guiding brochure at the trail head.
