May is Active Aging Month.
Experience the beauty of the great outdoors as you pursue active recreation.
Research shows that regular physical activity has immediate and long-term benefits. Improved sleep quality, lower blood pressure and a sense of well-being are among the benefits of active aging.
And no matter where you are in Florida, you are within an hour of a Florida State Park offering ample outdoor recreation opportunities.
Beaches provide opportunities for swimming, walking or riding your bicycle.
Trails are plentiful for hiking.
Equestrian trails are available for those with horses.
Kayaking and fishing opportunities are readily available.
If there is a child in your life, celebrate Kids to Parks Day on Saturday, May 15. Our Junior Ranger program provides opportunities for learning about Florida’s natural and cultural resources. Some activities are self-guided. If you aren’t at a park, you can do the Virtual Junior Ranger activities from anywhere.
