Testimonials for Wekiwa Springs State Park
- "I just returned from a weekend at this park. The wildlife here was incredible. We saw two deer one let us get so close that i took an amazing picture. The springs were beautiful and so refreshing on a hot day. We also went canoeing. Saw turtles and a baby alligator. The river was nice and there are some really nice pic oppurtunities. We stayed in a tent. The campsite was better than most. Every one has a grill and picnic table. The bathrooms were clean and i didnt feel sqeamish at all about taking a shower there. The sand lake is not really a lake like i expected but a fishing hole. I didnt really walk any of the trails but they looked nice. There is also a lot of stuff nearby like resteraunts and a movie theatre."

Amber Ingley - Tampa, FL - Just returned home from a weekend camping at the springs. AWESOME! We had a great relaxing time. We saw a river otter in the springs and several turtles but no bears! The park was full to capacity yet quite. Great place to camp....
Kathy Brown - Lakeland, FL - My husband and I have tent-camped at the Springs twice now and had a great experience both times. It may seem odd to camp so close to our home (3 miles away) but it's an amazing getaway and we discovered some great trails. This has been the best year, we got the Individual Park Pass and love to take the dog hiking as well.
It is a truly relaxing park and we are VERY LUCKY to live so closeby that we can go anytime. Canoeing is the best and the Rock Springs Run is beautiful as well.
Agnes Armstrong - Apopka, Fl - We took our kids (2 of which are teenagers) to Wekiva last July ('06) and they really enjoyed it--especially the snorkeling, nature trails (wet and dry) and frequent opportunities to observe the wildlife. For the first time in 5+ years of various family camping trips, the kids actually requested that we go back to Wekiva this year! The campgrounds and restroom facilities were nicely equipt and well maintained. Excellent park and staff- highly recommened! P.S. Heed the notices about the bears and other wildlife! Be sure you properly dispose of and/orlock up your food.
Heather Porter - Orange Park, FL - I love Wekiwa Springs, the whole park is great. Its a great camping spot because there is so much to do. The spring is a ton of fun, and the canoes are also great. I really liked the campsite and it had good ammenities. I'm going back soon to try out the bike trails!!
Christine Lake - Oviedo, FL - Growing up around this park It's always been one of the best places to swim, kayak, and fish (excellent bass and blue gill). But I camped there recently for the first time and was pretty impressed. We saw over 10 deer on our hike one day. Camp facilities were very nice.
Donny Anders - Casselberry, FL - The time I spent at this park was amazimg the animals the wildlife.I can sum it up in one word...FANTASTIC!!!!!!
Bruce Leeroy - Christmas, Florida - My time at Wekiwa Springs was amazing. I can sum it up in one word....FANTASTIC!!!!!
Marine Larkin - frostproof, Florida - We just returned from our stay at Wekiva (July 4-8, 2007). What a wonderful park. The campsites were spaced out nicely and all were in close proximity to the restrooms. The restrooms were clean at all times.
The park offered plenty to do from kayaking the Wekiva, swimming, nature walks, hiking and so much more. Our kids especially liked seeing the wildlife, to include the bears.
To bad the stay went by so fast. We will return.
Mike Goss - Fruitland Park, Fl - Tent camped at W.S. last night (12/8/07). Campground was excellent. Very nice spots, and the restroom facilites were suprisingly nice. The park itself is beautiful. A few drawbacks to camping however. It was noisy. Lots of loud conversation, music and RV noise way past 10pm and, you can clearly hear the vehicle traffic on the main road if you're in a tent. Also, the flight path for OIA goes right over the park. Again, if you're in a tent or popup, be prepared to hear commercial aircraft until about 10pm. Still in spite of all that we will be going back, but with earplugs the next time!
Karl S. - Satellite Beach, Fl - Wonderful Park! Enjoyed everything about our 3 day stay.
John Davis - , Kansas - We recently spent 3 nights tent camping at Wekiwa Springs with our 3 children and we had a BLAST!! The springs were cool and refreshing, the canoe rides we took were fantastic, and the hiking trails were wonderful. This park is a bird watcher's paradise! We had birds flying right through our camp site and we were able to get some really great pictures.
The bathroom facilities were in excellent condition and always clean. The campground hosts were visible and friendly...always ready to answer a question or lend a hand.
The park rangers were also very friendly and more than willing to stop and answer questions.
We have visited MANY state parks, but we keep coming back to Wekiwa Springs. This trip was our 4th visit to the park, and we plan on coming back again! Love it!
My only complaint was that at times people drove through the campground a little too fast for my liking. As I stated, we have 3 small children and we were a little nervous to have them riding thier scooters around the campground...but that is our ONLY complaint about Wekiwa Springs.
Nancy P. - Tarpon Springs, Fl - We just spent the past few days at the park Oct 29-Nov 2, and had a great time. The campground host (all of them) were so friendly and helpful and it made our stay there even more enjoyable. The park is kept very clean and maintained. The only thing I would really like to see in the future would be easier access to get private canoes to the water and back up to the parking area or maybe a boat launch area. It's impossible for me to carry even our small 12ft canoe to the water much less carry it back up the 200ft hill. However, leaving the park and driving to the Wekiva Marina was worth an extra $5 per canoe to launch. Can't wait to plan my next visit.

Sandra Schmitt - Cocoa, FL - My wife and I visited Florida for the 17th time in May this year, (we married in Kissimmee in 2000) We spent an exhilerating day in a kayak exploring the peaceful waters of the park, encountering eleven aligators varying in size from three to twelve feet in length.
We sat afloat watching tri-coloured (there is a U in colour, in English anyway) herons catch and devour catfish on the leafy litterol of the river. Turtles, unconcerned by our prescence, basked on fallen trees and the air was full of both birdsong and the booming of hidden gators.
We were enthralled beyond description and encourage every vistor to your state to set aside at least one day to enjoy all that nature can afford them at Wekiwa.
