About Weeki Wachee Springs State Park
A NOTE FROM THE MANAGER
Toby Brewer
Hello Everyone,
We hope you had a joyous holiday season and had a chance to visit one of Floridas State Parks. This year marks the 65th anniversary of Weeki Wachee and we will be celebrating all year long with special shows and a huge Mermaid reunion being planned for sometime in July. Be sure to check our events page as we will post information on whats happening. As we go through the colder months manatees will frequent the springs in search of the warmer waters as the spring maintains a constant 74 degrees. A good way to see one is by kayaking or canoeing down the Weeki Wachee River, be sure to contact our concession, Paddling Adventures to set up your trip. Mermaids still perform shows 3 times daily along with wildlife shows and tour boat rides and our swimming area is open all year. From what I have heard, from our northern folks it feels pretty good. We are currently working on the placement of a nature trail that will lead you through some scrub and pine areas with several scenic over looks of the river. The trail head will be accessible without coming into the actual attraction. We will be posting soon our 2012 schedule for the Former mermaid shows. These are the women who put Weeki Wachee on the map some of whom swam for Elvis on the day of his visit back in the early 1960s. They still perform gracefully in the water so be sure to catch one of their shows.
Weeki Wachee has a Facebook page with over 12,000 fans and if you are already one of them thank you for your support. If you havent checked us out on Facebook be sure to give us a look as we post many pictures and videos along with information about the park and whats going on. We hope you can put us on your schedule of things to do for 2012.
