Manager's Message
I hope that you are able to visit St. George Island State Park to go camping, fishing, kayaking, birding, shelling, or just to enjoy the beach. The park has something for everyone.
Florida Monthly magazine recognized St. George Island State Park as the best beach in Florida and was givin honorable mention as second best State Park in their Septembers best of Florida addition.
The East End Road Stabilization project started October 19, 2009. The East End 4 wheel drive access road will be closed to the public until the project is complete. The contractor has until March 1, 2010 to complete work. Early completion is expected. I will advise when permitted access is available again.
The annual migration of butterflies is winding down, some of the fall flowers are still in bloom and there are still several butterflies around.
Our Beach Concession closed November 1 and will be closed through the winter. The Beach Concession will reopen March 1, 2010.
The park has 60 campsites that fill up quickly so be sure to make reservations. Pets are permitted in the campground but are not permitted on the beach or in our facilities. Reservations for camping can be made online at www.reserveamerica.com or by phone 1-800-326-3521, TDD 888-433-0287.

Welcome to Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park
Miles of undeveloped beach with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and Apalachicola Bay on the other provide the perfect setting for this park. The park offers ample opportunities for sunbathing, swimming, canoeing, boating, hiking, camping, and nature study. Two boat ramps provide access to Apalachicola Bay where anglers can fish for flounder, redfish, sea trout, pompano, whiting, and Spanish mackerel. Few parks offer better opportunities for gulf coast shelling. Shore birds such as the snowy plover, least tern, black skimmer, and willet often nest along the park´s sandy shores and grass flats. The park has six large picnic shelters equipped with grills, tables, and restrooms. The campground features full-facility campsites; a primitive campsite can be accessed by trail or by private boat. Located on St. George Island, 10 miles southeast of Eastpoint, off U.S. 98.
