Resident Ranger, Tod Cornell

Anclote Key Preserve State Park

Tod Cornell was born and raised in Ohio and relocated to Florida in 2007. After vacationing in Florida for many years, he decided that the warmer climate and sunshine was for him. Tod has always been active and enjoyed the outdoors. In fact, he has worked outdoors his entire life. His love of the outdoors began as a child, instilled in him by his parents. They spent much of their family time outdoors which included sports and recreational activities.

What he loves most about the outdoors is the fresh air, sunshine and all the sights and sounds of nature.

Tod is the resident ranger at Anclote Key Preserve State Park. As part of his job, he enjoys doing programs in the community and sharing his park service experience with others in hopes that he can inspire them to join.

You can most often find Tod out in the field treating invasive exotic plants or working on a maintenance project. Some of his favorite activities are logging and monitoring the sea turtle and shorebird nests. What drew Tod to Anclote Key was the beauty and tranquility of the island. Being on the remote island makes Tod feel like he is miles away from all his troubles and can simply relax and appreciate how amazing nature can be.

Tod intends on being at Anclote Key for the foreseeable future and continuing to protect and preserve this little slice of paradise. Tod is proud of the work that he does and hopes to help others understand how important it is to protect the environment.
