GOLDEN STORIES BY THE SILVER RIVER
Date: July 18, 2009 7:00 pm
Description: Dueling Storytellers compete for the favor of the audience and for a chance to win the 'Golden Log of Story.' July's theme is 'Stories about Everyone's Favorite Creatures: Insects.' Depending on the number of tellers participating, there may be time for an 'open mic.' If you are interested in sharing a story, be sure it is no longer than 5 minutes, is family friendly and is on this month's theme. Program starts at 7 PM under the large pavilion and typically runs about 90 minutes. Insect repellant suggested.

STARGAZING
Date: July 25, 2009 7:30 pm
Description: The Ocala Astronomy brings telescopes and knowledge for an educational evening under the stars. If you are a beginner in astronomy this is a perfect opportunity to learn about telescope usage and what to look for. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Insect repellant suggested. Event is weather permitting.

CRACKER VILLAGE TOUR

Description: Take a guided tour through the replica Cracker Village learning about Central Florida lifestyles in the 1800's. Tour is given by an authentic Florida 'Cracker.'

COFFEE WITH THE BIRDS
3rd Saturday of the month Call the park for definite times. Wake up your senses! Discover the sights and sounds of the birds that inhabit our many different natural communities. Join a local birding expert on Silver River's trails. Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. A field guide and binoculars would be helpful. Meet at the Silver River Museum. No pets, please.

CRACKER VILLAGE TOUR
4th Saturday of the month - call for times Come and discover what life was like at the turn of the century in the Florida "piney woods". A ranger will show you through a Florida Cracker homestead and kitchen. Meet at the Cracker Village across from the museum.

STAR-GAZING PARTY
2nd Saturday of the month Come see the night sky in all its glory. Join members of the Ocala Astronomy Club and learn about the stars, planets, and more. Insect repellent, a lawn chair or blanket, and binoculars are recommended. Call park for other dates and for more information and exact times.
