Frequently Asked Questions about River Rise Preserve State Park


Question: Are pets allowed in the park?
Answer: No. Horses are the only domestic animal allowed in River Rise State Park. Please see our General Pet Policy.

Question: Is there waterfront camping?
Answer: No. The primitive camping area is located within walking distance from the water front area.

Question: Can I make reservations for the horse stalls or camping?
Answer: No, these facilities cannot be reserved and are available on a first come first serve basis.

Question: How do I gain access to River Rise Preserve State Park?
Answer: Entrance fees, equestrian fees and camping fees are paid first at O´Leno State Park before entering River Rise State park. The equestrian fee includes park admission. Instruction is then given on how to gain access to the park.

Question: What can I do to prevent ticks from getting on me?
Answer: Ticks are common in Florida woods. To help prevent ticks from getting on you wear long pants with cuffs tucked into socks, wear light colored clothing, apply insect repellent such as Deep Woods Off, Cutter or Avon’s Skin-So-Soft prior to going into the woods and stay on designated trails. If you find a tick on you, remove it slowly by pulling it out with tweezers and rub area with alcohol or other medical disinfectant.

Question: Do you have horses there I can ride?
Answer: No rental horses are available.
