Description: Oscar Scherer State Park is celebrating Literacy Month with special events held at the parks Nature Center.
Saturday September 6th: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm – Nature printing and story writing activities. 1:00pm – 2:00pm - Pick out one of our nature story books and sit down with a park ranger or park volunteer to hear your story read.
Sunday September 7th : 11:00 am – 12:00 pm - 'Make a Nature Book' Make your own book about nature or Oscar Scherer State Park to take home with you. (Younger participants can use premade words). 1:00pm – 2:00pm - Pick out one of our nature story books and sit down with a park ranger or park volunteer to hear your story read. .

Fees: This year, free entry into state parks with a library book, library card or book donation will occur from Sunday, September 7 through Saturday, September 13.

SCRUB WALKS
Every Sunday - January thru March - 8:30am. First and third Sunday April and May.
Meet at the Lake Osprey Pavilion. See the Scrubby Flatwoods from the inside out. Join a volunteer for a trip back in time and you will see how plants and animals have adapted to Florida’s desert.

GUIDED CANOE TRIP
Wednesdays: July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 A family oriented, nature friendly event.
Register by 8:30 AM, tour begins at 9:00 AM. (requires a rental fee in addition to the regular park entrance fee). Everyone is invited to join a park ranger for a Canoe Trip down South Creek. Enjoy paddling on South Creek as you learn about the inhabitants of brackish tidal streams and estuaries, and about the history of this area. Guaranteed fun for everyone!
