Manager's Message

July is National Recreation and Parks Month. Help us celebrate by enjoying our facilities and resources. We have many programs scheduled for the month of July. If you are not interested in a program we hope you come out to relax and play in the Real Florida!

Summer has arrived and life is in full swing at the park. With warmer weather, water, and, with school not in session our beach parks are a popular day spot. As always, exercise extreme caution when at the beach. We recommend visitors bring a hat or umbrella, sunscreen, plenty of beverages, and a cell phone. With the summer here, the typical summer storm pattern is in place as well. Severe weather can pop up at a moment’s notice. Please keep an eye on your surroundings at all times, whether it be on the beach, in the ocean, in your boat, or on the trail. When visiting the park, we suggest saving the park phone number in your phone as a precaution.

Park staff members are diligently working to provide all of our visitors with a healthy, safe and fun experience at our park. Please help us by following park guidelines, making sensible decisions and using caution.

By all means, come out, enjoy the weather and the environment. We ask you also to observe the state park rules and boundaries by not bringing your pets on our beach. Due to nesting sea turtles and hatchlings emerging, please refrain from using lights on the beach after sunset and before sunrise. Also, keep an eye on the weather. Thunderstorms in Florida can arise very quickly and the lightning can be extremely dangerous. We want all of you to be aware that one should exercise a little more caution now that the warmer months and more beautiful weather have arrived.

- Barbara Roberts, Park Manager
