Testimonials for Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park
- My husband and I stopped at this park on our way up to Torreya State Park from the Daytona area. The Gardens are only a short distance from I10 so it was an easy detour and we're both glad we found this gorgeous spot to stretch our legs. This place is astoundingly beautiful, even when not in bloom, with its elegant brick walkway with a cool lake to one side and remarkable gardens and landscapes to the other, with paths onto which you want to turn your feet. There are other walking trails outside the gardens but we hadn't the time to enjoy these. I envy those who live close to this park; what a lovely place to have close at hand.
Wendy Wilson - Orange City, Florida - I enjoyed reading about the park today. I was employed at the Park first as a Gardener then as a Ranger in the early 1970's. I feel I got the gardening bug while working there and later returned to college and got a degree in Horticulture and have been in the Green Industry since 1975 in California. I currently am Parks Maintenance Manager for the City of Folsom, CA and teach Horticulture classes at our local Community Colleges. I am not sure if any of my previous co-workers are still employed there but I think I saw Paul Riggs (?) listed in a Garden magazine a few years ago. Please give him my regards if he is still there. Could you send me some literature on the Gardens? Although I have some fond memories of my time spent there, I have no photos or literature. It seems that there have been some significant changes. Please send any literature or photos to Tim Crowley, Parks and Recreation, City of Folsom, 50 Natoma St., Folsom, CA 95630. Thank you.
