Manager's Message

Work was just completed on several new ADA-accessible parking spaces at our boat ramp, including a couple of full length truck & boat trailer spaces!
In addition, repair work will soon be underway on our floating dock system. While this work is being completed, it is likely that one or more of the four (total) launching ramps will be closed due to construction. Please be patient with our park staff and your fellow boaters as this important work is being completed. The public enjoys the use of this public boat ramp...with no mandatory use fee! But a $2.00 (or more) per boat donation is encouraged; your support of this donation program represents important stewardship of this important boating resource. The donated funds help the park keep our facilities in great shape!
Our shorebird nesting season is in full flight (pun intended)! Least Terns are nesting by the hundreds, and we also have almost two dozen Wilson's Plover nests. To top things off, our sea turtle nesting season has also started well, with 18 loggerhead turtle nests as of July 1!

Welcome to Lovers Key State Park

For years, Lovers Key was accessible only by boat and it was said that only lovers traveled to the island to enjoy its remote and solitary beach. Today, it is one of four barrier islands that make up this state park. A haven for wildlife, the islands and their waters are home to West Indian manatees, bottlenose dolphins, roseate spoonbills, marsh rabbits, and bald eagles. The two mile long beach is accessible by boardwalk or tram and is popular for shelling, swimming, picnicking, and sunbathing. Black Island has over five miles of multiuse trails for hiking and bicycling. Anglers and boaters can launch their vessels from the park's boat ramp. The park's concession offers boat and fishing tours, as well as bicycle, canoe, and kayak rentals. For tour reservations, call (239) 314-0110. Driving Directions

Lovers Key is located at 8700 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach. The park boundaries are Big Carlos Pass and New Pass. We are 10.5 miles west of I75 on exit 116.
