Testimonials for Long Key State Park
- My family spent Spring Break 2005 at Long Key and cannot wait to head back there for Spring Break '06. Absolutely beautiful park, well-kept camping areas, new shower houses and helpful hosts! We loved the canoe trails, hated that we didn't decide to try them out until the day before we left. We would've liked to have spent another day on our kayak's exploring the trails. Will definitely spend more time on them this trip.
Ann Simpson - Beckley, WV - We visited the park by accident in March of 2005. Drove to the Keys to camp without reservations anywhere. As we arrived at Long Key State Park we were told that everything was booked for camping but we could hang out at the public beach. As we were relaxing on the beautiful beach, the park ranger approached us and told us there was a cancellation and we could camp for 5 nights. That was when we found our favorite vacation destination. After that trip we immediately began planning for March of 2006. We made reservations and had another great time. We have already made our reservations for March 2007 and I just booked 7 nights for our first Fall vacation to Long Key for this November 2006. We love every minute at Long Key State Park!
Nick Reynolds - Asheville, NC - Beautiful & quiet campground! Will definitely return!!!
Debbie Morlock - Oviedo, FL - I loved the visit with my husband we went in 2005 for our honeymoon thanks for such a great park
Tonya Hamilton - Frostproof, Florida - My family and I have camped here since I was 4 years old. We spent the 1st two weeks of Aug. every summer at Long Key (lived in Kissimmee then), when there were "primitive" sites still available. We did so until I joined the Marines. I did not return with the family for 17 years. This year will be our first trip back since then, and a new generation will be coming. It was great then, and with the improvements it probably is better than ever. We hope to enjoy Long Key for many years to come.
John Keys - Bartlett, TN - This was a great place to camp - the ocean was about 15' from the door of our tent, and the sunrises were spectacular. The hiking trail was a lot of fun and very informative. The only downside was the campground is close to Route 1 and there is a lot of highway noise at night, but earplugs took care of that. It is well-situated for all activities on the keys - a highlight for us was walking the 7 Mile Bridge (to Pigeon Key) at low tide and seeing all sorts of creatures including sea turtles and a shark. I had been disappointed that we couldn't get into Bahai Honda this time, but after staying at Long Key - I liked it even better than Bahai Honda. Next time we come, we will probably try to camp closer to the center bathroom facility - it was a lot better than the first (north) one.
Jan Robinson - Queens Village, NY - My family and friends tent camped here last weekend and enjoyed the close proximity of the ocean that was filled with sea life, dark nights filled with stars and falling asleep to the sound of the waves.
Elizabeth Aguillon - Port Saint Lucie, Florida - My family and I camped here last summer(2008) and had a great time. The fishing was great, bathrooms clean, and being so close to the water was fantastic. We are going back again in 2009 for an even longer period of time.
Dean Hiers - Lake Wales, FL - We camped at Long Key State Park in our camper during the first week of June 2009. We had a WONDERFUL time. There was a mangrove tree right on the beach where we could put our chairs during low tide and have a great shade with a nice breeze to relax and enjoy a good book. We enjoyed exploring the very shallow waters just steps from our camper. It was very nice that each camping area was sectioned off with fencing with our very own opening to the beach. Found lots of very pretty "miniature" seashells for my collection. We loved the nature walks and especially enjoyed the canoe trip where we saw lots of fish, starfish and upside down jellyfish. The land crabs and iguanas in the park were a lot of fun to see also. Bathhouse very clean and nice. On a scale of 1-10, I give this park an 11!!!!!
