Volunteer Spotlight, Madison Carmody

Madison Carmody volunteers at Oleta River State Park.

Madison Carmody is one of the youngest registered resident volunteers Oleta River State Park has ever had.

At 20, she came all the way from the west coast in her truck pulling a 26-foot travel trailer.

Madison has volunteered and traveled around the United States with her rat terrier-mix dog named Baby. She has volunteered at campgrounds in New Mexico doing office work, Louisiana cleaning restrooms and in Texas, Pennsylvania and New Jersey doing outside maintenance.

In 2022, she joined the volunteer team at Oleta River State Park.

At such a young age, Madison has achieved what many take years to accomplish and do for a living. She’s an independent lady and enjoys the outdoors and loves to meet new people. She’s familiar with using a chainsaw, landscaping, clerical work and so much more. Nothing stops Madison from learning and experiencing new challenges. Her fun and young spirit personality makes it fun to hang out and enjoy a nice outing in kayaks and paddle boards.

We believe Madison is a prime example of following your passion and it’s not about the destination but it’s the journey getting there.

We hope Madison encourages the young generation to follow their dreams and be fearless and always having a “Can Do” attitude.
