Anne Pierce
Volunteer of the Year Award for Administration
Anne has a long and impressive history with Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park. She became a member of the Friends of the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Farm Inc. in 1998 and was nominated to the board in 2000. She has held various positions and worked on numerous projects during her 20-plus years as a park volunteer. Anne has held her current position of treasurer since 2004. She also serves as membership chair and has contributed over 1,760 hours of volunteer service.
In 1999, soon after becoming a board member, Anne began developing two databases – the first to document collections and the second as a task schedule. In 2004, Anne started to research and fund the conservation of over 30 artworks, framed photographs and mirrors displayed in the historic farmhouse. During the 75th anniversary of Cross Creek/Cross Creek Cookery in 2017, Anne was involved in 41 events, both on-site and off. She served as one of the event planners, speakers and treasurer.
Throughout 2017 and 2018, Anne worked closely with documentarian Sonya Doctorian to fund, through a Florida Humanities Council Grant, a 40-minute documentary titled "Here is Home: Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and Cross Creek." The Friends group received a 2018 long-term special project award for the project. During 2020, Anne began selling DVDs and merchandise through the mail.
Anne is a first-class collaborator, go-getter and a tireless supporter of the Friends of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Farm and the park.
20 Years of Service Award
Anne is a longtime volunteer at Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park. She became a member of the park’s citizen support organization, the Friends of the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Farm Inc., in 1998, and she joined the board in 2000. Anne has held her current position of treasurer since 2004. She also serves as membership chair and has contributed more than 1,760 hours of volunteer service.
She has held various positions and worked on numerous projects during her 20-plus years as a park volunteer.
In 1999, soon after becoming a board member, Anne began developing a database of the collections at the park and a task schedule. In 2000, her students at Georgia Southern University assisted in completing the project.
In 2004, Anne started to research and fund the conservation of over 30 artworks, framed photographs and mirrors displayed in the historic farmhouse. This was completed in 2005.
More recently, Anne was instrumental in organizing the 75th anniversary of Cross Creek/Cross Creek Cookery celebration. Throughout 2017, Anne was one of the event planners for 41 events, both onsite and offsite, featuring speakers about two of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’ most treasured works.
