Staff Spotlight, Kevin Pittman

A photo of Kevin Pittman at Big Shoals State Park

My name is Ranger Kevin Pittman, a fun fact about me; this is not the first time I have held the title of Ranger; I am a US Military Veteran with three tours of duty in two different branches, the US ARMY and the US Air Force. After my first tour, I went into the emergency medical field as an EMT, eventually becoming a Paramedic; and have worked in emergency medicine, in both civilian and military applications, for close to 30 years.

I am also a state-certified structural and wildland firefighter with almost 20 years of experience, and; was the volunteer Fire Chief for the local Volunteer Fire Rescue Department for several years. Currently, I am working towards becoming the Burn Boss for Big Shoals, Stephen Foster, and Olustee Battlefield State Parks.

In 2014, I began my Florida Park Service career as an OPS at Ichetucknee Springs State Park and later became a Ranger at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park and now; Big Shoals State Park.

The impact, physically and spiritually, the parks have on my life is one of the reasons I became a Park Ranger. I wanted to share my experience and help to show others the impact the parks can provide and help give back to my community. You can always pick me out of a group; I always have a cup of coffee in hand, and no matter what, I am always available for information or questions. I hope you enjoy my park!
