Park Ranger, Kathleen Dawson

If you’ve visited T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, you’ve likely encountered Ranger Kathy.

For the past 11 years, Kathy has dedicated her time and talents to the park and can frequently be found greeting visitors at Eagle Harbor. Born in Panama City and raised in Georgia, Kathy has always had a passion for nature.

As a park ranger, Kathy excels when she can share her love of the flora and fauna with those around her. She loves learning and being able to share her knowledge with others. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and it’s evident to all who interact with her that she genuinely cares about park visitors as much as the resources she protects.

Kathy’s positive attitude and enthusiasm earned her the District 1 Employee of the Month Award for June 2021 and the 2021 Florida Park Service District 1 Employee of the Year Award. Her supervisor says, “She is the cheerful and enthusiastic backbone of the entire team at T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and frequently reminds us of why we are all here doing what we love.”

Please join us in congratulating Kathy on her achievement!
