Staff Spotlight, George Royal  

George Royal is the recipient of the 2022 Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award is given to an employee who provides outstanding contributions to the division.

As a park ranger, George is dedicated to ensuring visitors receive the best experience while visiting our parks and trails.

One of George’s responsibilities has been participating on the committee to review and revise the Historic Weapons Policy Manual. As a reenactor, he has countless hours of experience handling historic weapons. He has devoted his talents to revamping the guidelines for staff and volunteers to ensure safety during battle reenactments.

He puts his vast knowledge to good use by assisting the park's interpretive chairperson with the annual reenactment at Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park.
