Amy Bauer, Staff Spotlight
Amy has always known she wanted to work with nature and animals. After studying wildlife ecology, it was a natural step for her to find work with the Florida Park Service to protect our natural resources. She started as an OPS park ranger at Sebastian Inlet State Park in 2018 and was promoted to a full-time position five months later.
After three years of working on the busy Space Coast, Amy found a position with Suwannee River State Park as park services specialist. She enjoys the slower-paced, secluded feel of life on the river. Some of Amy's favorite parts of the jobs are working with volunteers, creating interpretive programs, managing cultural resources and helping visitors connect to the natural world.
With a longtime love of animals that has never gone away, you’ll often find Amy around the park looking for any wildlife she can find – deer, gopher tortoises, woodpeckers, owls and even jumping fish! She’s always happy to share her knowledge and passion for nature with anyone who is curious about life in the wild.
