Welcome to Indian River Lagoon Preserve State Park. The preserve is now open to the public but facilities are limited to a small parking area located off the Old Florida Trail with access to dirt roads that are great for hiking, trail running or biking. Pets are allowed but must be kept on a 6-foot handheld leash at all times.

While out on the trails you may see alligators, Florida box turtles, gopher tortoises, marsh rabbits, bobcats, a variety of butterfly species or perhaps a gray fox. Bring your binoculars since the preserve is also home to a variety of bird species such as yellow-crowned night herons, belted kingfishers, bald eagles and pileated woodpeckers, to name a few.

The property was once the site of one of the last barrier island citrus groves and has undergone extensive restoration to enhance the natural communities that support hundreds of native plant and animal species. The restoration of this property is vital in maintaining the health of the Indian River Lagoon.

The extensive mangrove swamp provides a refuge for juvenile fish that rely on the protection of the red mangrove roots until they are large enough to venture out into open water.

Come out to the Indian River Lagoon Preserve State Park and experience why Florida State Parks are ...the Real Florida.
