Marshall Shaw, Park Manager
Welcome to Blackwater River State Park. Now is a great time to visit one of the best-kept secrets of the Florida Panhandle! The Blackwater River is the main feature of the park and most activities are influenced by its majestic charm. Come for the day to escape the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy a peaceful leisurely walk along one of our trails and let mother nature provide the soundtrack. We offer two loop trails that traverse the river floodplain and longleaf pine ecosystems. Also, the side trail of the Florida National Scenic Trail offers a linear trail of up to 40 miles from the park to the Alabama state line through various natural communities. Some of the wildlife you may see include deer, turkey, quail, river otter, beaver, heron and possibly even black bear.
Floating down the river is my favorite way to enjoy the park in the summer. You can escape the hustle and bustle of life and slow down to the river’s flow and enjoy nature all while cooling off. Visit our park for a magical journey down the river that will give you a full recharge.
