Robert Brooks, Park Manager
There are wonderful opportunities for wildlife observation and enjoying ...the Real Florida at Lower Wekiva River. This property has limited facilities, so please be prepared when you visit. There are two entrances to Lower Wekiva Preserve with some different activities at each location.
Due to the construction of the Wekiva Parkway, please use the Katie's Landing trailhead if you want to hike. The State Road 46 entrance to the park will be closed for the duration of the construction. Please remember to bring the items you will need to enjoy the visit (water, snacks, insect repellent, etc.).
If you're looking to fish from the bank or access to the Wekiva River with your own canoe or kayak, an excellent location is Katie's Landing. Katie's does offer restroom facilities, picnic tables and grills; however, there is no potable water at this location.
If its equestrian activities you want, then the Fechtel Tract is where you want to be. We offer primitive equestrian camping with stalls, stables, facilities, picnic tables and grills. The trails at this location can also be used for hiking and wildlife observation as well. There is running water for horses; however, it is not intended for human consumption.
For equestrian camping reservations, call Wekiwa Springs State Park at 407-553-4383.
