The Haunted Ballet

Each October, since 2015 in the week before Halloween, visitors to The Barnacle enjoy an enchanted ghostly guided tour through the darkened park, encountering beauty and magic along the way.

Every night during the production run of  "The Haunted Ballet," audience members gather at the entrance to The Barnacle Historic State Park. There they wait for the spirit guide to lead them through the darkened park where they enjoy producer/director Crystal Karaginis Peattie's spectacle.

Crystal found a unique way to combine her love of Halloween, history and eerie narratives into an imaginative and creative program where dancers acting as spirits tell their tragic stories to an rapt crowd.

The concept is simple and technology limited to a sound system hidden throughout the park, hand-held theatrical lighting, and professional dancers performing choreographed pieces with different areas of the natural park setting as the backdrop.

The result? Amazing!



Park Manager Katrina Boler, a lover of all forms of art herself, found the idea of taking dance and bringing it into nature and history was a dream come true.
