Taking a walk along the Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk is an experience like no other. As the boardwalk winds under towering bald cypress trees, make note of the lush greenery which surrounds you., You may catch glimpses of Green Herons, Barred Owls or Red Rat snakes. The shady canopy is also a favorite spot for alligators to hang about along the water’s edge.

Along the path you’ll find interpretive signs informing you about all things Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park. There is an exciting project in the works for the boardwalk. The plan is to rebuild the deteriorating parts of the boardwalk and add an extended loop around the lake. With several rest stops being added along the way, this will add more scenic views for guests and expand the opportunities for interpretation along the boardwalk.
