Testimonials for Lake Kissimmee State Park
- "My campsite was the greatest. The sandhill cranes wallking right thru the site were incredible. They seemed to want to pose for photos. The wild turkeys running thru the sites was a great experience also. Nothing like wildlife up close and personal."

- Hallandale Beach, FL - We enjoyed our stay at Lake Kissimmee State Park so much that we stayed two extra days. The camp sites were beautiful, well spaced and private. The Cow Camp was fun and educational. We hiked on the trails and enjoyed seeing the wildlife.

Bettie Blocksome - Hartselle, AL - We do alot of family camping all over Florida. We found Lake Kissimmee through a friend. The park is fantastic for natural camping. The facilities are first rate and clean. The staff was informative and helpful even with questions not concerning the park. While we live only 60 minutes from this park we will be returning as often as we can. And by the way, if you want to see wildlife in it's own environment, this is the place!
Peter McCormick - Kissimmee, Florida - My husband and I spent five weeks on the road staying at several state and private campgrounds in Florida. We both thought that the Lake Kissimmee State Park was one of the most beautiful parks we stayed at. The sites were very well spaced and very private. The park rangers were especially helpful.
Ellen Javes - Long Lake, New York - We camped at Lake Kissimmee in 2004 and liked it so well we returned again 2006. We did notice since dogs are permitted in the park there seems to be a decrease in wildlife. Perhaps to accommodate both pet owners and those without you could make one loop for each
Fran Olsen - Maine, N.Y. - The park is beautiful, clean and the restrooms are kept up exceptionally well. We enjoyed our stay but do encourage vistors to bring ear plugs to sleep in since the air boats on Lk. Kissimee can be very loud!
melissa s - lutz, 33549 - Wonderful, just wonderful. I wasn't at the camp 30 minutes when a doe and a buck wandered up. Than came the turkeys and Sandhill Cranes. Wow! We had a great weekend. Loved the park!
Kathy Brown - Mulberry, FL - We happened on this park by chance as we were avoiding an Atlantic storm last week. The campsite was amazing--large enought to accommodate our rv, jeep, boat and general stuff as well as the natural vegetation, flocks of wild turkeys, a buck and doe that visited us and more. The lake however was being drained to help out the everglades acquifir (sp) and was too shallow for our small boat. Also the fish were just gone as was well documented by other campers too. We hope to return!
joanne bandy - winter springs, fl - Every year my class and staff enjoy our Community Based Instruction trips out to the park. The students fish and picnic. We always find the staff friendly and the area well kept. For some of the students it is the first time that they have visited a state park and also caught a fish!
We see Florida wildlife including alligators, deer, turtle, turkeys, and insects. (one of my students recalls the catepillar she saw on the observation deck)
Thanks for making the park educational and most of all an enjoyable experience for us!!
Ms. Raulerson's Class Lake Wales High School
M. Raulerson - Lake Wales , FL - My dog and I went hiking on the Island trail. (The hiking area is located in the parking lot near the Cow Camp.) The trail took us through several different habitats. We saw deer, large spiders, and a gopher Tortoise. The trail took about 3 hours and was easy to follow. The end of the trail is a bit confusing because it intersects with a road that has arrows pointing, just make sure to follow the white blazes and not the arrows. There is a nice picnic area towards the end of the trail.
Jill H - Orlando, FL - We went backpacking to the primitive campsite on Buster Island with Ranger Mark. He made the hike there very enjoyable. That night we had a tremendous storm. Even though the weather was severe and not fit for man nor beast, the resident rangers came out in the storm on an open four-wheel vehicle to check on us and make sure that everyone was okay. This storm system spawned several tornadoes and cause heavy wind damage. Their dedication to the safety of campers went beyond the call of duty. Everyone at the primitive campsite was impressed that they came out in such foul weather in the middle of the night to check on us.
Sid Meyer - Davenport, FL - One of the best State Parks I've been too. Camped the whole weekend and enjoyed it. The wild life just walks up to and waits for you to take a picture.
The only downside I could see was there is a lot of air boat noise at night. Honestly, after the second day I really didn't notice it though.
