- Just returned home from a three day weekend at Lake Griffin. What a nice, quaint park! Peaceful at its best. The facilty was maintained well, keeping the beautiful look of nature. In the early morning, we watched the cardinals feed and the squirrels run freely.
Best yet, we caught a 4 lb bass while fishing in the canal.
PS. The dogs had a great time too!
Kathy Brown - Mulberry, FL - My husband and I visited Lake Griffin State Park, to which we've never been, to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. This small park is well tended, neat and clean. The picnic area is especially lovely, graced with well trimmed, hearty trees and overlooking the still, quiet canals, lush and green under their tunle of vegetatation. We rented a cannoe for a few hours. The aluminum cannoes are in good repair with very good oars and quality life jackets. The waterway scenery is peaceful and lovely. We saw six 'gators, most small youngsters, but one was quite a big mamma. Fish jumped from the water, birds enjoyed the sactuary of small islands in Lake Griffin and I suppose the humankind, with their habititats on the shores of lakes, also enjoy their situation rather well. We enjoyed the short hiking trail and marveled over the 300 year old live oak, with her broad thick trunk. The staff at Lake Griffin proved themselves very friendly, helpful and hard working. Wendy Wilson - Orange City, Florida - The camping area is very nice and also quite which we enjoy.Your camping area is very clean and the sites are very nice. The canal to get out to the lake is very beautiful and is well maintained. We will be camping there along with a few others that are as nice as that one. It was well worth the drive and the time spent there for the holiday.The lake is very nice and large with alot of fish and birds which is nice to see while you are out there enjoying the sun and the sites.
