Camping Reservations

Family Campsites and Cabins
Parks are open 365 days a year from 8 a.m. to sunset. Family campsites and cabins may be rented on a first come, first served basis by walk-in visitors, or may be reserved from 1 day to 11 months in advance by calling the phone number above from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Reservations may also be made online at http://www.reserveamerica.com. Reservations are made on a pay-in-advance basis. Same day reservations are not made. Campsites may be reserved for stays of 1 to 14 nights. Cabins are reservable for 1 night during the week, Monday – Thursday, or a minimum of two nights on weekends and holidays, Friday and Saturday, departing Sunday, or Saturday and Sunday, departing Monday. Topsail Hill Preserve bungalows have a 7-night minimum. Suwannee River Wilderness Trail state parks with cabins will rent them for one night on weekends. These are Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park, Suwannee River State Park and Fanning Springs State Park. All campsites or cabins not already occupied or having a prior reservation may be rented by walk-in visitors.

Reservations Cancellations
Visitors may cancel family campsite and cabin reservations up to the day of arrival for a $10 fee by calling the ReserveAmerica call center, (800) 326-3521, by calling the ReserveAmerica visitor service line, (888) 622-9190, or by going online at http://www.reserveamerica.com. Visitors canceling on the day of arrival will be assessed the first night’s use fee in addition to the $10 cancel fee. After the day of arrival, visitors calling ReserveAmerica will be directed to call the park to make arrangements for arriving late or to obtain a refund. Visitors will receive a prorated refund less the $10.00 cancellation fee when canceling after the day of arrival.

Reservations Changes
Date or site changes to family campsite or cabins reservations may be made up to one day before the day of arrival by calling the reservations call center at (800) 326-3521 or the visitor service line at (888) 622-9190. A fee of $8.50 will be charged for making a change. Once visitors have arrived at the park and are registered, the park may make date and site changes on the local reservations computer without charging cancellation or change fees, depending on availability.

No Shows
In the event that campers do not arrive on or near the designated date and the park cannot contact the visitor, campsites and cabins will be held for the duration of the reservation before releasing them back to reservable inventory.

Pricing
Family campsite pricing varies from $12 to $38 a night depending on the park. Cabins vary from $25 to $120 a night. A 50% discount on base campsite fees is available to Florida citizens who are 65 years of age, or, Florida citizens who are 100% disabled. Documentation will be requested on arrival. Discounts do not apply to cabins stays. The family camping fee includes the use of park facilities such as boat ramps and playgrounds but does not include tour, attraction or museum fees.

Primitive Camping and Large Group Facilities
Reservations for primitive camping, or reservations for the large group camp facilities at O’Leno State Park, (386) 454-1853, Wekiwa Springs State Park, (407) 884-2008, or Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, (954) 564-4521, should be made directly with the park. Fees for primitive and large group camps are on a per person basis. Park telephone numbers are available by calling and requesting a park guide at (850) 245 2157, or, online at http://wwwfloridastateparks.org.

Wakulla Springs Lodge
Reservations for the Edward Ball Wakulla Springs Lodge should be made directly with the park, (850) 224-5950. Fees vary from $55 to $105 a night.

Length of Stay
When demand is great, the maximum length of a camping stay is 14 nights. Once the camper is registered and onsite, and only at the Park Manager’s discretion during periods of low demand, the stay may be extended up to 28 consecutive nights. Park Managers will permit the same campers up to eight weeks aggregate occupancy in any one park in a six month period.

Occupancy
Family campsites accommodate no more than 8 people and must have at least one responsible camper present who is 18 or older. Any more than eight campers will be required to rent and move to additional sites. Children under 6 years old do not count in the total. Cabins can accommodate either 4 or 6 visitors. Campsites and cabins must be occupied for the duration of the stay.

Camping Rigs
A camping rig is required for overnight stays. The minimum is at least 1 tent. Pedestrians without a camping rig will not be allowed to stay. Older parks with narrow sites may not accommodate trailers or RV’s having both a large slide-out and a dining fly. Be sure to check site specifications when making a reservation. Setting up in the vegetative buffer zones is not allowed.

Check-in, Check-out and Quiet Time
Check-in time for campsites is 3 p.m. Check-out time is 1 p.m. Check-in time for cabins is 4 p.m. Check-out time for cabins is 11 a.m. Campers who will be arriving after the gates are closed should call the park before 5 p.m., local time, for the gate combination. Parks with an entrance station not fully manned through 5 p.m. should be called before 3 p.m. Gate combinations are only given out to registered campers, visitors with site reservations and specified entrance permit holders. Campers need to be set up before quiet time, which is from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. On the day of check-out, campers must leave the campground on or before check-out time, but may remain in the park’s regular day-use areas until closing without additional charge. Campers wishing to extend their stay should do so before 10 a.m. on the scheduled day of check-out. Campsite space is subject to availability.

Pets
Pets are welcome overnight in all the camping parks except Oscar Scherer State Park, where restrictions have been placed on some sites. Pet rules apply. Domestic breeds of dogs, except guide or signal dogs or other animals trained for assisting individuals with a disability, cats and other fur bearing animals, birds and reptiles will not be allowed in the following areas: food-service areas, any cabins or cabin areas, primitive campgrounds, beaches where bathing and swimming are permitted, including both land and water portions, park buildings, playgrounds, and areas designated by park management. Pets are permitted in other areas subject to the following: Pets must be well behaved at all times and must be confined in the owner’s camping unit during quiet hours. Unconfined pets may not be left unattended for more than 30 minutes and must be on a leash no more than 6’ long. Please do not tie pets up to park vegetation, natural or manmade structures or facilities. Pet owners must pick up after their pets and properly dispose of all pet droppings in trash receptacles. Pets are required to be vaccinated. Horse owners and users will be asked to show their certificate of a current negative Coggin’s Test for all horses entering the park.

A pet that is noisy, disturbing, intimidating, vicious or dangerous to other people or pets, or which damages park resources, is considered to be a nuisance and will not be allowed to remain in the park.

Captive wild species, whether native or non-native, except when used in park-sponsored programs for interpretive educational purposes, and barnyard animals, except horses, are prohibited.

Fireworks
Fireworks are not permitted in the state parks and recreation areas.

Alcoholic Beverages
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the state parks and recreation areas except at specially sponsored events.
